Dorian Wieherkekr was born in Switzerland to Kerstin and Lars Wieherkekr but a week after the family moved to Toronto, Canada.
Dorian was born into a family that already felt complete. His parents were childhod sweethearts, having met in university where they bonded over their interest in the beauty of the past and the artifacts that it had created. His father had been obsessed with vintage cars for as long as he could remember. There wasn't a single wall in his house that didn't have a picture of a specific car from the 1950s or 60s, not a single room that wasn't dedicated in some way to automobiles. When he was three years old, his father insisted that he slept in a race-car shaped bed to stir his interest in cars nice and early. For the first half of his life he didn't think that there was space for an interest of his own.
He wasn't an unwanted pregnancy, just an unexpected one. As his parents only thought they would have one child in their lifetimes, they weren't equipt to put the time aside to look after him properly so started to pay babysitters to keep him company when they both had to be working. Originally, he was looked after one day a week but as his parent's careers took off and his older sister started school, it quickly turned to five days.
One morning when he was 4 and a half years old, he woke up and walked to his en-suite bathroom as usual only to see a bright green streak of hair running down the right side of his head. Initially he thought that his older sister Tommie had played a prank on him by bleaching and colouring his hair as he slept but after his mother dragged him to see a doctor, he was told that it was most likely triggered by his hormones as he was growing, and the green would continue to sprout out until he was much older.
From when he was 6 years old, he was looked after nearly 24/7 by his older sister. She doted on him and gave him every toy he wanted from top-of-the-line gaming consoles to adventure weekends to even the rarest of sweets from abroad using an allowance their parents had given them but even being as young as he was, he knew that his sister shouldn't have to act like his parents.
He was a good kid at school. By all apperances, he was happy. He contributed to lessons, handed in al his homework on time, always remembered his sports kit and passed every exam they had. He had a wide net of friends but stayed out of drama, never causing a fuss or enciting anything unsavourary. Under the surface however, he was a zombie. He didn't feel anything, didn't think his own thoughts, he didn't find joy in things he used to enjoy... he couldn't even remember what used to make him happy. That was until he found out about his school's drama club.
As he stepped on stage to audition, he was suddenly hit with a blissful wave of nostalgia from when Tommie made him put on little shows for his parents when he was a toddler, his parents smiling with pride as he danced around and fumbled his words. Dorian opened his mouth and acted out the same stupid scene he had when he wasn't tall enough to reach the kitchen counter, as his chest swelled up with happiness once again.
For the years that followed, his acting ability only got better the more he practiced. He ran through a variety of shows from Shakespeare plays to classic Americana to plays spoken purely in Latin. He performed comedies, dramas, who-dun-its, character studies, the lot and eventually when he felt confident enough to share his happiness, he invited Tommie to watch a dramatisation of 'Streetcar Named Desire', a Tenessee Williams play. It wasn't the type of play to whoop and cheer at, but that didn't stop his sister from shouting, 'that's my little brother!!' when the curtains closed. He didn't really care anymore that his parents didn't come, since he had someone in his corner to support him.
When it came time to graduate, he decided to pursue a teaching degree. He got along with children and had the patience to persist with them and find different methods to make sure they understood... but in the back of his mind he missed being on a stage.
With his sister's and best friend Xue's support he started to apply for odd acting jobs and enrolled in an evening acting class. It took a year when he was in his second year of his teaching course for him to get his first acting gig in a K-drama called, 'Love Lock' where he was playing a supporting character who had a few romantic scenes with another male actor. After the show came out, it became moderately popular and he suddenly recieved a lot more opportunities for other k-drama and BL shows.
He graduated taught at a highschool for a couple of years before eventually moving on to work at a university as a history professor. Since he was 25, he was in a lot less demand for acting gigs than when he was 19, so had written off a real career until some of his students found old Love Lock clips and after maing fun of him, encouraged him to get back into acting. After thinking about it, he decided to audition for a new Korean drama called 'In the Air, we are Atoms'.
'Dear Mr Wieherkekr, we are happy to offer you the role of Johnathon in ITAWAA. Filming details are below.' He read the email at least fifty times to just make sure it was real...
A week later, he found himself leaving his teaching job behind and jetting off to Korea, with his co-star without any acting experience, Lilia Smirnov. He didn't have the highest experience for her acting abilities, but he'd actually been following her voice acting career for a while... not like he could ever let her know that.
